The Matthews Athletic & Recreation Association (MARA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has proudly supported youth sports in the community since 1956. Based at Arthur Goodman Memorial Park in Matthews, MARA offers a variety of sports programs including baseball, softball, tackle & flag football, cheerleading, basketball, and Bambino Buddy-Ball for young athletes with special needs.
MARA's mission is to provide a positive and inclusive team environment where student-athletes can discover their potential and foster lifelong skills and values through the joy of sports.
As a volunteer-driven organization, MARA provides a positive, fun environment with expert coaching and quality facilities, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. MARA has been a home for young athletes, fostering teamwork, leadership, and a lifelong love of sports.
Each year, over 50,000 fans, volunteers, and players visit our park, and more than 1,500 baseball, softball, and football games are played—from high school competitions to recreational, travel, and challenge games. In 2023, MARA registered over 2,600 players across our leagues.
