Flag Football Registration

2026 Spring Flag Football (Coed)

Refund Policy: Matthews Athletic and Recreation Association (MARA) incurs various league, medical, security, uniform, insurance, and administrative fees which are not refundable to the organization. Therefore, if you withdraw your player fifteen (15) days or more before the stated registration period closes for a sport, we will provide a refund of the total registration fee, LESS A $50 Admin Fee. Otherwise, we do not provide any refunds for a player withdrawing from the program

MARA Colts Fall Flag Football

Season Start: 3/14/2026

Games End: 5/17/2026

Game Day: Saturdays

Practices: On Saturday before the games (during the season)

Who Can Play: Boys and Girls (Ages 6-14)

Where: MARA -1200 S Trade Street, Matthews, NC 28105

Cost: $225 per child

Equipment: An equipment deposit in the amount of $175 will be required for a MARA issued football helmet. The deposit will be returned at the end of the season when the football helmet is returned to MARA.

**Age divisions are based on the date of 3/1/2026 (i.e., what age will child be on 3/1/2026) with divisions ages adjusted, as needed, to balance the number of players per team and division.

Matthews Elite Colts 7v7 – 2026 Season Tryouts

The Matthews Elite Colts 7v7 program is back for the 2026 season.

This fast-paced, skill-focused format helps players improve route running, timing, and defensive coverage — no pads, no tackling, all skill.

TRYOUT DETAILS

Tryout Fee: $20 (registration required)

Includes 2 hours of workouts plus a Matthews Elite drawstring bag for every registered player.

Location: Matthews Sportsplex

Dates & Times:

Sunday, November 23, 2025 — 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM

2pm to 4pm - 10U, 11U, & 12U

430pm to 630pm - 13U &14U

Location: Mint Hill Veterans Park

Dates & Times:

Saturday, December 6, 2025 — 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM

10am to 12pm - 10U, 11U, & 12U

1230pm to 230pm - 13U &14U

Location: Mint Hill Veterans Park

Dates & Times:

Saturday, February 7, 2026 — 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

ABOUT THE TEAMS

Tournament Team ONLY – Highly competitive; includes cuts and participates in regional tournaments. The Tournament Team is for elite players

SEASON TIMELINE

Practices: Begin the week before Christmas

Tournament Team Events: January - May; Regional tournaments (schedule announced post-selection). Seven (7) tournaments with additional optional tournaments (additional fees). Cost: $500 upon making the team

Age Divisions

Divisions are determined by the player’s age as of January 1, 2026.

Example: A player who turns 13 on January 1, 2026 plays in the 13U division.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Players must:

Complete the online registration form

Indicate which team(s) they wish to try out for

Pay the $20 tryout fee

Tryouts are required for all players, including returning athletes.
