Welcome to the Home of the Colts
All-American Scholar Program
Each year, Pop Warner recognizes the most academically accomplished football players and cheerleaders as All-American Scholars. This recognition starts at the local association level and extends up to the national level.
Eligibility: To apply for All-American status, student-athletes must have a minimum 96% GPA from the previous school year.
Scholar Selection Process:
- Scholars are scored on a 118-point scale: 100 points (85%) for grades and 18 points (15%) for extracurricular achievements.
- The top 35 football players and 35 cheerleaders per grade (plus ties) are named National First Team All-Americans.
- Next, a number of Second Team All-Americans are chosen based on application volume.
- Remaining qualified applicants are recognized as Honorable Mention Scholars.
Scholars receive a congratulatory letter, a certificate of achievement, and are recognized each spring on the Pop Warner website.
Our Commitment to Academics
Pop Warner is the only national youth sports organization that requires academic performance for participation. We believe that these standards promote responsibility and balance between academics and athletics.
Scholastic Fitness: National Policy
A minimum GPA of 70% or 2.0 is required for participation. If an athlete falls below this standard, they may submit a Scholastic Eligibility Form along with an improving progress report to remain eligible.
Note: Scholastic requirements cannot be made more stringent by local leagues or teams. Teams not meeting academic requirements are ineligible for regional/national championships.
