COVID Update

             UPDATED ATHLETE & SPECATOR GUIDELINES

The following guidelines will be in effect beginning immediately

and apply to all MARA Sports, Events, and Activities until further notice

  • Masks are still mandatory pursuant to Mecklenburg County and the Town of Matthews ordinances in all indoor spaces.

  • Indoors and outdoors, please remember to practice good hygiene and stay socially distant with a minimum 6 feet between your family and other family groups.

Exposure Policy

If you or a member of your household tests positive or has been directly exposed to COVID-19, you and the exposed family are in quarantine from the Park. You and your family may return to the Park under one of the two following conditions:

  1. After 5 days from the date of the last exposure plus a negative COVID Test; or
  2. After 10 days from the date of the last exposure, no symptoms, and no test required.

This applies to all athletes, siblings, parents, coaches, and volunteers. There are no exceptions for the safety of everyone at the Park.

Application of Exposure Policy:

  1. Athlete A’s parent tests positive for COVID on January 1. When can Athlete A and his family return to the Park?Athlete A may return to the Park no earlier than January 6th with a negative COVID test or January 11th without a COVID test.Either way neither he nor any member of his household can be showing any symptoms of COVID.

If during his quarantine, Athlete A’s sister test positive for COVID/is exposed to COVID, the clock to count for 5 days/10 days begins to run again.

  2. Athlete A has dinner on January 1 with his grandparents, who do not reside in his household. On January 5th, Athlete A’s grandparents test positive for COVID. Neither Athlete A nor any member of his household appears to show symptoms and do not feel sick.Do Athlete A and his family have to quarantine from the Park?Yes, for the 5 and 10 days periods set forth above. Athlete A and his family can return to the Park on January 6th with a negative COVID test or on January 11th without a test.
  3. What if more than one athlete on the same team tests positive or has a household member test positive during the same quarantine period? MARA has opted to review these on a case-by-case basis to determine if the exposure is related to interactions at the Park together or are entirely unrelated. Based upon the circumstances of the positive cases/ exposures, MARA reserves the right to quarantine the team for an appropriate amount of time in compliance with CDC and government guidelines for the safety of other members at the Park.

MARA’s priority is the safety of its Members.  MARA will continue to monitor the CDC and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services for the most up to date information and will enforce compliance with government guidelines. Failure to comply with these policies places MARA in the position of asking you and your family to leave the Park.  MARA understands that these requirements are inconvenient but is asking that we all work together on this so we can continue to have youth sports at MARA.

If your student athlete has any of the following symptoms or has tested positive within the last five days, please keep them home from practice or game.

· Fever (temp >100.0F)

· Cough

· Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

· Fatigue

· Muscle or body aches

· Headache

· New loss of taste or smell

· Sore throat

· Congestion or runny nose

· Nausea or vomiting

· Diarrhea
